Designer and manufacturer of distributed audio processors and amplification solutions, AudioControl, announced the first shipments of their new high power matrixing amplifier with DSP control, The Director Model M6400.

The Director Model M6400

The Director Model M6400, part of AudioControl’s new Matrix M-Series, drives sixteen channels of high-power amplification in a 2U chassis that delivers 65 watts per channel at 8 Ohms, 100 watts per channel at 4 Ohms and 175 watts at 8 Ohm bridged, all channels driven.

Features of The Director Model M6400 include:

The matrixing capabilities of the Director M series allow any of eight analog or two digital inputs to be routed to any amplified zone output. The M6400 includes two digital SPDIF inputs plus two SPDIF outputs that are included in the matrixing, allowing any one of the input sources can be routed through the digital outputs. These digital outputs can be connected to Director M series digital inputs so that multiple amplifiers can receive any signal from any inputs from any of the amplifiers.

Corona Integrated Systems featured in Sound & Communications Magazine

Earlier this year we had the honor of working with Business Interiors on their new headquarters in downtown Birmingham, AL. It was in this project that we got to work with DIRTT and Ecler. DIRTT is a unique modular interior building system that can be installed with almost any interior finish and can be moved around as a customer's needs change. The Ecler product was a Godsend. We experienced some design changes late into project and the Ecler CZ products fit the bill and exceeded our expectations.

GoldenEar Is At It Again!

GoldenEar Releases The XXL Subwoofer And The StereoPoint 652 Stereo Speaker

XXL Subwoofer

GE XXL SUB FINISH.001.jpg

The inventive SuperSub XXL features two active 12-inch bass drivers set in a vibration-cancelling, horizontally-opposed configuration, supplemented by two 12.75-inch x 14.5-inch passive radiators set in a patent-pending vibration cancelling, vertically-opposed configuration. Providing propulsion is a 1600-watt DSP controlled subwoofer amplifier.

We love GoldenEar subwoofers! The Forcefield series was already an industry changing subwoofer line, but now the XXL will raise the bar even further! It's completely balanced. So balanced, that they demo it with a nickel standing on it's edge. Words can't describe the amount of power and sheer volume of air movement this subwoofer produces while still being musical.

Pre-orders start this week and retails for only $1999!

The StereoPoint 652 Stereo Speaker

You now have the perfect GoldenEar solution for small areas like bathrooms and kitchens, or any larger area where the speakers would be too far apart to hear both channels, or where multiple speakers are installed but multiple single-point stereo coverage is preferred. (Wouldn't be surprised to see a few of these in Dolby Atmos or DTS:X overhead "God Channel" installations.)

GoldenEar says, "In evaluating other single-point stereo speakers, we have found significant colorations. Not so with the  Invisa SP 652. Engineering approached this as a serious speaker, not just an insignificant rush project, and this will be very clear when you hear it. Of course, it incorporates two of our signature HVFR tweeters, and a complex crossover. We debated going all the way on this product, and in the end decided that we would. We really wanted something we could be proud of, and are glad that we did."

U.S. Retail is $449 each, available now.

The Whole House Audio/Video/Control Process

Sticker Shock

Lately, we have seen many prospective clients come and ask to get a quote for their project. Some are elated and others are in shock! So that got me to wondering, why was their such a disparity between the two types of clients? My first thought was - could it be financial, lifestyle or even a fear of technology? We will never know, but we have a few ideas that may help you in your next purchase...

THE TRUE COST OF A SYSTEM:
Consider this when buying a budget system: If you use a system HALF as often because it is cumbersome, complex, or inadequate, then your true cost is TWICE what you paid for it!

The Whole House Project and What You Might Not Know?

Your partnership begins with your first meeting. At this meeting, we will explore your audio and video options and define your project based on your needs, timeframe and budget. The biggest key is budget. Some people know going into a project what they have in mind or want to spend. Our job is to point out all of the conveniences available and create the greatest AV experience possible.

Video Scenarios - Help to determine what rooms will have video and how will it be presented?

  • Stand Alone - TV display with built-in speakers which operate independently of whole-house video
  • Simple Amplification - TV sound will be played through whole-house speakers in a stereo configuration
  • Surround Sound System - Dedicated AV receiver creates a surround sound environment

Audio Scenarios Help to determine what rooms will have music. This can range from simple background music in the individual rooms to critical listening in theater or listening rooms. What source components are desired?

  • CD player
  • Satellite Radio (Sirius or XM)
  • AM/FM Radio
  • Digital Audio Server

Structured Cabling Layout - Define for you the initial and future connectivity/distribution needs for each room, including telephone, Internet, audio and video distribution.

Telephone Cabling Options -Layout choices ranging from simple single-line phones throughout the house to multiline phone system with intercom and voice mail.

Computer Networking - Address and incorporate all you Internet connectivity and computer networking needs.

Closed Circuit TV Options -Provide simple monitoring up to motion-based premises recording

Control System - Help you to determine what will be controlled and how.

Cost Estimate/Quote

Corona Integrated Systems will provide an initial cost estimate based on the scope of your project. This will provide a full menu of options from which you can choose an AV scenario that best meets your needs and budget.

Walk-Through

Once your project parameters are established, Corona Integrated Systems will work with you to identify the location of all speakers, TV displays, control devices, electronic and wiring locations, telephones, and other components. In newly constructed homes, this is done in conjunction with the general contractor. We will coordinate our systems with your home layout (e.g. floor & ceiling plans, electric, built-ins, furniture lay-out, etc.) and most importantly your life style. In some cases, Corona Integrated Systems may need to prepare a mechanical room, which will be the AV control center for the home.

Structured Cabling

Telephone, home networks, Internet, cable television, and satellite all have special cabling requirements which are call "structured cabling." Structured cabling lays the foundation that allows your technological devices to work together seamlessly. Following the walk-through, we will begin to pre-wire your home according to your desired schedule. In a newly constructed home, there are three phases service provider brings up that service. If you need help setting up and connecting computers and printers we will be happy to do that for an additional fee. In an existing home, these steps will be customized on an as needed basis.

Cabling Phase

In new construction, this phase begins after the electric, plumbing and HVAC trades have completed their rough-in work but before the installation of insulation and sheetrock. During this phase Corona Integrated Systems will:

  •  Install conduit from mechanical room to the attic
  •  Install low voltage rings for:
  •  Structured cable runs (computer and phone)
  •  System controls
  •  Video display areas
  •  Install Speaker brackets
  •  Install and label all low voltage wire

Termination Phase

This phase begins after the sheet rock is complete and before certificate of occupancy (CO) is issued . During the termination phase the cables described above are terminate both ends and wrapped in protective plastic. The terminated cables are then placed in the wall and covered with a temporary plate. After the wall finishes are complete, the plates come off and the speakers are installed.

Move-In Phase

At this point the cable and/or satellite feed, telephone service and Internet connectivity should all be turned on or made "live." We will be there to guide your cable and/or satellite installation, including where the set top boxes are to be installed and to ensure their cable company delivers a quality signal. We will also be there when the Internet service provider brings up that service. If you need help setting up and connecting computers and printers we will be happy to do that for an additional fee. In an existing home, these steps will be customized on an as needed basis.

Electronic Equipment Installation

Upon completion of the structured cabling "Move-In Phase," your home will be ready for equipment installation. Our t rained professionals will place, install and test your new system, will give you a system "walk-through ", and will provide a tutorial as to the use of your remotes. You will then be ready to take full use and enjoyment of your new state-of-the-art AV system!

Our Pledge

We insure that our service is timely, precise, friendly and in line with the highest industry standards. As your neighborhood provider, we are always here to answer your questions or make adjustments to your home theater system. After a Corona Integrated Systems installation has been completed, our customers can enjoy their system for years to come.

DirecTV Launches 4K Ultra High Definition Service Last Friday

Some big news happened last Friday at DirecTV. They are the first to launch a 4K UHD satellite service. Sure, Netflix has offered a 4K service for a while, but the DirecTV service is very unique. DirectTV partnered with Samsung in a unique fashion that requires a Samsung 4K television to use the service! While no information was provided to users that have another brand of television, we can only imagine that this will be a temporary arrangement as more and more consumers are making the switch to 4K and UHD.

If you are not familiar with the 4K service, here is a brief description:

The service will provide programming with four-times the resolution of FullHD 1080p, which was the previous highest resolution level the service offered on certain channels.

At launch, DirecTV said it will begin offering nearly 20 movies from both Paramount Pictures and K2 Communications with more titles to be announced soon.

Customers will need an Internet-connected Genie HD DVR (HR34 and above), and a Samsung UHD TV that is DirecTV 4K ready, the company said.

DirecTV is a 2015 CES Innovation Awards honoree for its 4K Ultra HD video-on-demand (VOD) lineup delivered via the DirecTV Genie HD DVR and DirecTV 4K-ready TVs.

The Genie HD DVR allows receiver-less connections to supporting Samsung UHD TVs and creates instant availability of the 4K VOD movies directly to those televisions, DirecTV said.

Musicians Expose the Decline of Sound Quality in New Film “The Distortion of Sound”

Distortion

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--“The Distortion of Sound,” a documentary exposing the decline of sound and how technology has changed the way we listen to music, premieres this evening at an invitation-only event at the GRAMMY® Museum in Los Angeles, California. Following tonight’s screening, the documentary will air on “The Distortion of Sound” YouTube channelDistortionofSound.com, the Sundance Channel, the IFC Channel on July 23 at 6 p.m. ET and PT.*

“This documentary is about how technology has changed the way we create and enjoy music – for better and for worse. While we all want our music to follow us everywhere, we have unnecessarily sacrificed fidelity for mobility. HARMAN wants to reverse this trend”

Presented by audio giant HARMAN, and told directly by artists, producers, music lovers and fans, “The Distortion of Sound” reveals the gap between the music that artists create in the studio and on the stage and how fans experience it on the go.

The documentary delves into the development of portable audio equipment and music streaming, which led to the normalization of digital music compression and a degradation of sound quality. It also addresses the proliferation of low quality audio products and the industry’s emphasis on fashion and mobility at the expense of a quality listening experience.

“This movie is a wakeup call about what we are missing and how technology has changed our musical experience,” said world-renowned record producer, Quincy Jones.

“There is a great irony that as technology advances and music becomes even more accessible, those songs aren't being played back in their full richness and color,” added Linkin Park co-lead vocalist, Mike Shinoda. “We now have access to all the music we could ever want, but this access has come at the expense of quality.”

Filmed by Bandito Brothers Films and produced by kbs+, “The Distortion of Sound” features candid interviews with a cast of artists and industry experts, including, Quincy Jones, Mike Shinoda, Slash, Snoop Dogg, Steve Aoki, Hans Zimmer, Dan the Automator, Lianne La Havas, Neil Strauss, Kate Nash, Andrew Scheps, A.R. Rahman, Manny Marroquin and more.

“More than just a look into the effects of technology on sound quality, ‘The Distortion of Sound’ is a film about the power and strength of music and the emotions it evokes in those who live and breathe it every day,” said the film’s director, Jacob Rosenberg. “Ultimately, it’s a celebration of the artistry and passion that is poured into music creation, and the profound connection between the artist and audience.”

“This documentary is about how technology has changed the way we create and enjoy music – for better and for worse. While we all want our music to follow us everywhere, we have unnecessarily sacrificed fidelity for mobility. HARMAN wants to reverse this trend,” said Dinesh C. Paliwal, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of HARMAN. “We are in the studio and on the stage with artists, helping them create their life’s work. They – and their fans – deserve better, and we hope this film opens eyes and ears to how we can ‘save the music.’”
